花的故事

I am a pink flower with small leaves.
I am made by God and so are my pink color and my small leaves.
I live in a valley with many many other flowers.
Everyone of us is different,
And we are all made by God.

One day I met a yellow flower with big leaves.
I really liked her yellow color and her big leaves.
She liked me, too.
So we became friends.

We liked to talk to each other.
Sometimes she showed me some dirt on me.
I then tried to clean myself in order to become prettier.

Sometimes she told me that
Yellow is actually prettier than pink,
And big leaves are actually better than small leaves.

After that, she started to tell me that
She hoped I could be a little bit yellowish,
And have bigger leaves.

I tried to make my pink color yellowish
And make my small leaves bigger.
But I could never do it no matter how hard I tried.
I felt so sad and frustrated.
Then I started to cry.

But just when I was crying,
God smiled at me and said to me,
"I am God who made you, including your pink color and your small leaves.
You are very beautiful.
I like everything I made in you.
When I made you, I did it extremely well.
You are my masterpiece, my wonderful work of art.
You are precious.
I love you."

Hearing that, I didn't understand,
But I took that into heart and meditated upon it.

Then I realized,
Yellow is actually no prettier than pink,
Nor are big leaves better than small leaves.
We are as pretty and good as each other,
Just in different ways.

I should thank my yellow friend for showing me the dirt on me,
But if she cannot appreciate my pink color or my small leaves,
I really don't need to feel bad or do anything about it.

I started to be happy with my pink color and my small leaves.
I might still have some dirt to clean,
but I am on my way,
And God still loves me with my uncleaned dirt.

Now I know I am indeed pretty, very pretty.
Because my Maker told me so.
I enjoy my pink color and my small leaves.
And I will bloom in my prettiest way to glorify my Maker.

When I started to happily display my pink color and my small leaves,
I saw a big smile on my Maker.
